The South Central Climate Adaptation Science Center (CASC) at the University of Oklahoma seeks to hire a Research Associate or Research Scientist to join an interdisciplinary team focused on reducing risk from drought, flood, wildfire, and other climate extremes across the CASC’s four-state region.

This position will provide technical assistance for natural resource management for a variety of federal, state, and tribal agencies, nongovernmental organizations (NGOs), and other resource management partners. Moderate travel within the South Central CASC region is expected to meet with partners and continue building relationships with resource managers in the region.

Required qualifications include:

• Ph.D. ( for Research Scientist position) in ecology, hydrology, physical geography, climate science (broadly interpreted), environmental science, or a related field, OR
• Masters Degree (for Research Associate position) with at least 5 years of experience in ecology, hydrology, physical geography, climate science (broadly interpreted), environmental science, or a related field
• Strong data analysis skills (quantitative and/or qualitative)
• Ability to effectively communicate scientific/technical information to non-expert audiences

The South Central Climate Adaptation Science Center (CASC) at Oklahoma State University (OSU) seeks to hire a postdoc to join an interdisciplinary team focused on addressing research questions related to the impacts of climate change on migratory birds and their habitats in the U.S. Great Plains region.

This two-year position will lead work that expands on our previous research evaluating the effects of changing precipitation regimes on wetland extent and migratory waterbird habitat use in the Great Plains.

Required qualifications include:

• Ph.D. in ecology, conservation biology, natural resource management, or a related field
• Strong quantitative analysis skills, including past experience managing and analyzing large data sets
• Ideal candidates will also have prior experience working with or alongside federal agencies, and a genuine interest in conducting actionable and co-produced science

• Provide logistical support for programmatic events at the CASC such as the Annual Actionable Science and Adaptation Meeting, Early Career Researcher Forum, and Undergraduate Scholars Program
• Assist South Central CASC team members with setting up planning meetings, organizing meeting agendas, and facilitating planning discussions
• Summarize key takeaways and action items during planning meetings, workshops, and speaking events
