• Significant river flood outlook

This Flood Outlook is intended to provide a general outlook for significant river flooding. It is not intended to depict all areas of minor flooding or small-scale events such as localized flooding and/or flash flooding.

  • Excessive rainfall forecasts

The excessive rainfall graphics provide a forecast of the potential for flash flooding across the continental United States. The graphics display the probability that precipitation will exceed the flash flood guidance values issued by the National Weather Service River Forecast Centers (RFCs).

  • Quantitative precipitation forecasts

NOAA’s Hydrometeorological Prediction Center incorporates the latest surface and upper air analyses, radar data, satellite data, and model guidance in order to create quantitative precipitation forecasts.

  • National Weather Service

The National Weather Service, part of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, provides weather, hydrologic, and climate forecasts and warnings for the United States, its territories, adjacent waters, and ocean areas.
