Responsibilities at SC CSC:

Toni is a doctoral candidate at the University of Oklahoma in Norman, Oklahoma, and joined the South Central Climate Science Center in August of 2012. Funded through the Oklahoma EPSCoR project, he studies decision-making in winter wheat farming and develops seasonal climate forecasts that help winter wheat producers in the south-central U.S. to better manage unseasonal climate, especially heat, drought, and extreme rainfall.


Toni studied geography, meteorology, and cartography at Dresden University of Technology in Germany and received a masters equivalent degree before coming to the United States. During and after studying in Dresden he also worked as freelance photographer and news writer for various print media. Toni has a strong interest in science communication and interdisciplinary research. In 2012, he co-founded the Early Climate Career Forum, an online platform connecting graduate students and early career professional working in areas related to climate science. He currently is an editorial board member and regular contributor to the blog.
